About Us

Josh and I have been together for eight years and married for five. I am a nanny for two sweet little boys, and Josh is Active Duty Air Force.  We always knew that we wanted to start our family young, and that when the time was right God would bless us with a little one.  Before we even started trying we prayed for our future child, and God blessed us with a short wait.  On January 26, 2013 we found out that we were expecting and we were full of joy! Even more so when we found out on April 5 that we were having a little girl, and we've named her Savannah! Fear crept in all to quickly, when on May 13, 2013 we found out that our sweet baby girl had anencephaly.  But that is not the end of her story...

Our wonderful baby girl, Savannah Joy Hurtley, was full of life and we helped her live it to the fullest!  While I was pregnant with her she already had such a personality.  She loved to wiggle around after I drank juice, loved watching Big Bang Theory, and when her daddy read her bedtime stories.  :)

We started this blog as a way to sort out our thoughts, record memories, and share Savannah's story with friends, family, and anyone going through similar situations.

We serve a mighty God, and we know that this is part of his plan; this is not a mistake. In the midst of sadness we find our joy in Savannah, and in knowing that God chose us to carry and love her.

Savannah Joy Hurtley was born on October 9, 2013 at 9:47pm. She weighed 4lbs 14oz and was 18in long. She was born alive, kicking, and looking right at her Daddy! I was able to feel the warmth of her embrace before she was taken up into our Heavenly Father's arms.

We are so grateful for our time with Savannah here on Earth, and we long for the day where we will all be reunited again in Heaven! Oh what a joyous day that will be! <3

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb."
Psalm 139:13

With Love,
Josh, Rebecca, & Savannah
